Unlocking RIO Devices

User-programmability is an option that is available for selected RIO devices. At power-up, devices with this option enabled will automatically run whatever program has been uploaded.

Even if you do not have the user-programmability option enabled, you can still use the IDE to create programs, simulate, and even emulate your code. This is a good way to gain familiarity with the tools and determine whether user-programmability will suit your particular needs.

To purchase the user-programmability option, please contact Coyote DataCom at 916-933-9981. You can then select the "Unlock RIO device..." option from the File menu. This will contact the Coyote DataCom servers over the internet and download the appropriate code to unlock your RIO device.

To complete the unlocking process, the RIO device must be connected to the PC via a serial port. The serial port can be configured from the General pane of the Settings dialog.
